Blogged under Front Page, Weekly Results, Bloglockers by chinmusic on Monday 30 April 2007 at 11:48 pm

The Royals went 2-5 last week as they were outscored 35-28.  The Royals are going to continue getting beat on until they improve with the bats in their hands.  They are now 8-17 on the season and they are in last place in the American League Central, 7.5 games behind the Cleveland Indians.

The Kansas City Royals are pleased with the start that John Buck is off to

The Royals traded for Jason LaRue to challenge John Buck for the starting job at catcher and it has apparently lit a fire under John Buck’s behind as he’s ripping the baseball this season.  In 13 games so far, Buck is 15 for 43 (.349 avg, 1.218 OPS) with 7 runs scored, 4 homers and 6 RBIs.  If Buck keeps hitting like he is right now he will start getting the bulk of the playing time behind the plate.

Emil Brown mired in a slump for the Kansas City Royals

Emil Brown is off to a rough start to the 2007 season.  In 15 games so far this season Brown is only 8 for 49 (.163 avg, .380 OPS) with only 4 runs scored and 3 RBIs.  The Royals really need Brown to produce like he did the last two years for them or they will have to play someone else in his spot.

The Royals were 3-3 last week despite getting outscored 37-34.  The Royals finally showed some life on offense and they played pretty well in the field last week.  They are currently in last place in the American League Central with a 6-12 record, 5 games behind the Minnesota Twins.

Ryan Shealy has been hopeless at the plate so far this season for the Kansas City Royals

In 12 games so far this season, Shealy is only hitting .098 with a .351 OPS.  He’s only 4 for 41 with 1 run, 1 homer, 4 RBIs and he’s whiffed an amazing 17 times so far this season.  The Royals are starting to play Ross Gload at firstbase so Shealy is running out of time if he wants to keep his starting job.
